Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

Sir, I am a petitioner under section 138 NI Act.
I have found another case under 138 NI act, which has been contested and decided on the same respondent (same respondent as in my case) by another petitioner in same district court.
Can it be of any benefit for me if I refer this case .
Moreover, I want to know the procedure after registering of case under NI Act. I have his correct residence address.What, if the respondent does nt appear after summons?
