Legal Question in Family Law in India

I am a 19 yrs old girl doing engineering. My mother is a teacher, and my father is currently unemployed. But he is the main bread earner of the family. My elder brother is working and is independent.

In case of my parents' divorce, my mother cannot financially support me or my education.

Is my father legally obligated to take care of me financially (mainly my education), or does he have no responsibilities regarding me since I'm a major?

Being a female child, though major, your remedy in my opinion, can best be taken care of under Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act. Since you have stayed with your father in a shared household, father and mother divorced or not, separated or not, father will be liable to pay for your education in as much as not paying for your education is Domestic Violence, as defined under the act.
