In India, after a divorce can a child's surname be changed to its mother's maiden surname if the biological father gives his consent? If yes, then what are the steps to do so? Please cladify.

There is no legal bar.

You may change the name of the child by giving public notice in news papers and then making application to the appropriate authorities, depending upon age of the child., e.g. , if the child is school going, you may seek change of name in school records; if he has a passport, you may apply to the passport authorities for change of name, etc. etc.
