Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

My mother in law purchased a property in1985. Now we came to know that there was a minor right of the previous owner. It is told us that we would not face any problem for selling that property . but bank asked for a consent letter of the minor now turned up 33 yrs old. Can we take legal action against previous owner if that minor claimed (now major)for property.minor is the daughter of previous owner.
