Legal Question in Business Law in Alabama

Business License Required?

An assisted living company bought a house in my neighborhood and it's employees have caused numerous problems i.e. noise disturbances, physical and verbal abuse of mentally challenged clients, destruction of property, continuous violations of neighborhood covenants, etc. Is it legal for a business such as this to operate without a business license?

Re: Business License Required?

No, just like any business they must follow zoning laws, and buxiness licensing laws.

Have you spoke with an attorney in your town? If you want, feel free to contact my Birmingham office to see if anything can be done.

Good luck

Re: Business License Required?

The facility must have a business license. In some cases, an Assisted Living Facility must also have a separate licensure from the state. While those may be violations for which the state of Alabama or county of Mobile can fine them, YOU may also have a valid complaint against them for the other things you mention. Please feel free to give me a call if you'd like to discuss further.
