Is it illegal to use fake identity in virtual credit card?

Hi there,

Currently I realized that there are web sites selling virtual gify (Visa) card to prevent identity theft.

Of course I will have to make the payment with my real name, real credit card, real address and last 4 digits of my SSN, but I am wondering if it is okay to use fake identity (except for the shipping address) on the virtual card. 1) Are those pre-paid gift card considered as credit card? and 2) is it illegal to use fake identity in such case?

The answer to this question is very clear.

If you intend to pay the charges, then no, it is not illegal. You are allowed to call yourself whatever you like, as long as there is no attempt to 'fool' someone for the purpose of defrauding that person.
