Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

8 year old child who doesn't want to always go and see her father!

Should I force my 8 year old daughter to go every other weekend and see her father, even if she doesn't want to because she feels uncomfortable?

Re: 8 year old child who doesn't want to always go and see her father!

There are many reasons a child may not want to visit the other parent. Sometimes it is due to guild that they feel over leaving one parent to be with the other, sometimes it is a reaction to the one parent's sadness over their child leaving, etc. If a court order is in place that requires your daughter to go every other weekend, your daughter will have to go or you will face contempt. Talk with your daughter and find out why she does not want to go. Like I said, many times it is due to sadness, confusion over the situation. If you feel that this is not the case and something else may be going on, you may need to eventually petition the court to change the visitation that is set. I hope that this helps you! Sincerely, Jennifer Rose
