Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Help! Annulment or Divorce Question

My husband and I are seperated and I need to know whether or not I will be notified if he pursues a legal annulment or divorce. If so, will I be served papers or notified through the mail? If through mail, can he claim he doesn't know my address to avoid notifying me? In other words can the marriage be annuled or terminated without my knowledge? I appreciate your help in advance.

Re: Help! Annulment or Divorce Question

Julie:

Generally, the law requires that you be served with a summons and copy of the complaint that your husband would file with the Court to commence divorce proceedings. Service usually occurs by certified mail, sheriff/constable, or special process server. Please give me a call as soon as possible to discuss this further. I can provide you with helpful advise that will save you money in the future.

Thank you.
