Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

What can I do as a father, To at least get visitation and/or partial custody of my unborn son? His mom is a drug addict living in a drug addicted household. She has told me that she wasnt going to add my as father on the birth certificate nor allow me to see my son. I dont want to wait till the baby is born then have to try and start this because I am afraid she will move and i wont be able to find her

Learn about the putative father's registry in the state of Alabama. Sue to establish yourself as the father of the child.

You need to contact DHR in the county where you live or the mother lives and register with the putative father's registry. This is for anyone who thinks they may be the father of an unborn child or within 30 days of the birth of the child. Should you fail to do this, it may be considered abandonment. Additionally, upon the birth of the child, I would suggest you file a paternity and dependency action in your local juvenile or family court where you ask to be made the legal father and allege the child is dependent due to the drug use of the mother and ask for custody.
