Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Alabama

I have 2 friends who are separating. There are a few items that one is trying to claim ownership over. This person did not actually PAY for the items in question, but has "documentation" showing that they were under his name, as in Layaway, and certain store discount cards. Does this person have any actual claim to this property?

When you say they are seperating, I must ask, were they married or just living together. If they were married, they must go to court and ask for a seperation "Mensa et Thoro" or legal seperation. If they were just living together, the facts would have to be heard by a court and a decision made after a trial. You'll have to provide more facts to produce a satisfying answer.
