Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alabama

Estate Settlement

My mother died 3 and 1/2 years and left a will with my brother as execetor, he has not attempted to settle anything, the estate is valued 1/2 to 3/4 million, there is a provision for mediation if an agreement cannot be obtained, do I have any rights except going to court? Or can this drag on forever?

Thanks

Re: Estate Settlement

Yes, you have several options regarding the enforcement of your late mother's will but every one requires the use of an attorney. Is there some reason you do not want to hire an attorney to help you through this? If I had a serious illness, I wouldn't hesitate to see a doctor about it. This situation is similar- you have substantial money tied up and an estate that might not be there when this is finally settled. You can hire an attorney and get swift action or you can muddle through this forever and never get anywhere. Your choice. Hire a local probate attorney asap and you will be happy you did.
