Legal Question in Criminal Law in Alaska
We have a friend who is in jail for stealing. Her mother asked us if we would sign as "third party". I dont know what that means. She is 18. Could you please verify third party in a court case. Thank you in advance for your help.

The full phrase is "third-party custodian". As a condition of her release pending trial, you would be responsible to keep an eye on her and make sure she stays out of trouble. If she does do something she shouldn't, you would promise to immediately call the authorities and have her picked up. Obviously it's a serious responsibility.
If you agree, the court will tell you fully what your responsibilities will be.
