I have an idea in creating a solcial network site that is different from all the rest. How do i protect my idea from others using it?

It would depend on how you intend to implement your idea. If you form your own company with investors and web designers and implement it yourself, you would need to secure your intellectual property in a certain number of ways in order to be secure.
If, however, you decided to secure the idea, then have a law firm draft non-disclosure / non-compete agreements so that you could pitch your ideas to an established company that could then lease the rights from you, that would be a different set of documents and filings.
There are other ways to structure this as well, depending on what you plan to do.
