Bad debt

What is the dollar amount a company or collection agency feels it would not be in their best interest to ''go after'' a bad debt or to take to a higher level of collections? Less than $1,000??

I've seen a couple cases of debt collecting attorneys suing for debts around $700. They usually get their attorney's fees on top of the debt, so it is more worth their time.

It's hard to say. The smallest one I've ever seen actually file a lawsuit was $550.
