Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Arizona

Rental car damage charges

A rental car in Arizona was returned with some damage. A combination of private automobile and credit card insurance has paid for the actual cost of repairs, etc. The rental co. now wants additional payments to cover "loss of use" and "administrative" costs. I understand that the 'loss of use' charge depends on their showing that they actually did not have another vehicle to rent while the damage was being repaired. How much justification can I ask for to show that the admin costs (an arbitrary $100) are also justified?

Re: Rental car damage charges

First, why is this a Virginia question?

Second, read your contract - that should tell you what you need to know about what they can charge you and why.

Third, if they've already accepted money paid on your behalf by insurance in satisfaction of their claims, why do they claim that they haven't settled?

Fourth, was the claim made by them directly, or did they use a debt collector of some kind?
