Can a detective give evidence to the victom and go back and pick it up for the investigation

There is no law or rule of evidence directly prohibiting the detective to give evidence to an alleged victim then later retrieve it. Authenticity of evidence is alwasy an issue and may be challenged on a number of reasons not to permit it into evidence. In this case the issue of chain of evidence, that is, has the original condition of the evidence been altered in any way, needs to be addressed.
There may be other reasons to challenge the admission.
