Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

my question is last week i was contacted by a detective who asked if he could come talk to me about a case my name came up in. I said yes i have nothing to hide and gave him my address and we set up an appt for today. i do have a criminal past and was involved with some pretty bad people. but i have been clean and sober since 2006 I am an NA member and have been doing very well and not getting into any trouble. he came today and asked me some questions about a missing person from 2003 in which i only knew her fro getting a ride with her once and also that while i was in jail a guy had asked me to be his aliby which i said no way i told the detective everything i knew and i also wanted my sponcer to be present during the questions so i had a witness and he said he could not be there 7 now he wants me to take a lie detector test. is this something i should do with out having a lawyer or should i get one to protect myself even when i know i have nothing to do with this?
