Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Arizona

disinherited

My father died. I had not seen him in 15 years. He had longtime companion of 10 years. The will said she got everything(homes, collections, boats, etc.) Myself and 3 other children were listed as being disinherited! There was a clause that stated if any child disagrees with this , they will be awarded $1.00(one dollar). I also want to mention that my father never did catch up in his child support agreement with the courts. But that was many years ago. Is there anything I can do? Am I entitled to anything?

Re: disinherited

Go to the probate court in the county where his will was probated and get a copy of the file. You need to have an attorney investigate whether it was properly executed and try to find out about his mental competence at the time it was executed. You can also investigate the child support situation through the appropriate court. If there are arreages you may be able to make a claim against the estate.
