Legal Question in Family Law in Arkansas

I am a practicing attorney in Arkansas. I was previously in an eight month relationship with a lady who has two children. We ended our personal relationship two months ago. Within the past two weeks, a situation has arisen with her ex-husband regarding his fitness to have joint custody of his and my ex's children. She has asked me to represent her in the custody dispute.

I have been approached by the ex- husband's counsel and been informed that he will object to my entry of appearance on the ex-wife's behalf because of my previous relationship with the ex-wife. He is aware that there is no longer a romantic relationship between me and the ex-wife and he has stated no rule or precedent to support his objection. Has anyone ever heard of such an objection? If so, what in the world is the "conflict" he could validly use to prevent me from representing the ex-wife in the custody dispute? (I have deliberately never met nor had any conversation with the ex- husband.)
