Legal Question in Social Security Law in Arkansas

Mothers'Property

My mother passed away almost 2yrs ago, She owned land in Arkansas,I was wondering if I can file a lien against the land or if there is a time limit. My aunt was the excutor of her estate and everything was left to my nieces and nephew. I am her only living child. also I got stuck paying her funeral bill because I signed for it but if I can put a lien against the property she owned in arkansas i can pay that toward her bill.I dont know who to contact there and I dont have the money to hire a good lawyer here in ILL or in Ark. thank-you

Re: Mothers'Property

Where in AR did she live at the time of her passing? Did she have a will? If so, did it mention you? If not, you may have been entitled to a share in the property. Also, if she had a will, it should have provided for taking care of her burial expenses.

Just because someone is the executor, they don't get to decide who pays for what, the will does.

I don't think you can put a lien on the property without filing a claim for what you paid.

Send me the answers to my questions and I will see if I can help you. If you have a copy of the will, that is what I really need.
