Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Arkansas

my brothers boat

my brother passed away last year and didn't have a will. he left his son 2 insurance policys. My brother won a boat in a fishing tournement, it was his pride and joy. His son wants to sell it for money because he doesn't work, hes 22 and never holds down a job for more than 2 or 3 days. Hes sold everything he could get his hands on of my brothers and my family is really upset. Is there any way we can keep him from getting the boat? My mother has the title and refuses to let him have it. Its been a year since the accident. PLEASE respond to this letter. Thank you, Sandy

Re: my brothers boat

You bet there is. Just b/c he did not leave a will it does not necessarally mean that everything goes to the son. It depends on who else is in line to inherit. Are there any brothers or sisters? Did he leave a wife?

If no wife and no other brothers or sisters, then there is little you can do, but if there are any other heirs then it is worth looking further at.
