Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

I'm told it's illegal to purchase a car before a discharge

I keep getting notices from car dealers in my area to come in an purchase a car--I have not received my discharge yet--should in the next week or two. I've been told by a couple of dealers that I've just talked to that it is illegal to purchase a car before your discharge. They say then it would be included in my discharge. thsi does not make sense to me. What is the law about purchasing another car when you've filed. I appeared in court the first of May and am awaiting my discharge papers.
