Legal Question in Disability Law in California

My boss let me borrow $2500 dollars to buy a car ( no contract signed ). I drove the car for a month , got in a fender bender ( accident ) with little cosmetic damage. I did not return the money fast enough so he took the car and now wants me to pay for the damages i made to MY car. Does he have any case in court ?

I don't understand. Are you saying your boss took possession of a car that is registered in your name? If so, call the police. He stole your car.

Sure, you owe him $2,500 and, yes, he could sue you in small claims court for the money. But he has no right to help himself by taking your property. Would you allow him to walk into your house and take your TV or your furniture?

If the car is in your name, demand he return it. If he gets into an accident you will be held responsible. You can make payments to pay back the debt, which is how it should have been worked out.
