My Companion started work on or about April 26 in the GZ. He was told by the State Dept he would receive his first payck about 3 months into service. As of this writing, he has not been pd.

Re: employment in Iraq

Let me guess. Your Companion is not a State Dept or other government employee, he is really a contractor and his contracting agency, Halliburton or DynCorp or whoever, is responsible for paying him. And when he signed up with this company as a contractor, he should have negotiated net 10 or net 30 payment terms up front. We know of some government subcontractors who have even agreed to terms such as "subcontractor will be paid after the government pays us." Yeah, right!

I would have Your Companion read his written contract and see if there are any specific payment terms, or provisions for his stopping work due to lack of payment.
