Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Buying a home after bankruptcy

Hi! I never had any property or a car before I filed my bankruptcy. It was discharged 1 1/2 year ago. If I ever bought a home, can any of my past creditors put a lien on my home? Please advise.

Thank you very much.

Jamie

If by "past creditors" you mean those whom you could have or did include on the BK petition, the answer is "no." However, any debt accumulated after you filed the BK is another story. Good luck with the home purchase. It's amazing how a BK can actually turn around a person's life for the better. -Robert
