Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Credit Reports

Is it true that it is illegal to pull credit reports for clients whose attorneys offices file consumer Bankruptcy's? If so, what if a client came into the office and wanted their attorneys to pull their report. Could the attorneys go to the credit reporting agencies website and help their client pull the report with no profit to the attorney? Is this legal? What makes it illegal? What about a paralegal? Sorry for all the questions.

Thank you in advance.

Re: Credit Reports

Thanks for your posting. Pulling a credit report is illegal without authorization, and most attorneys are not subscribers to a credit reporting service, meaning that they must contract with an outside agency that will charge them a fee.

On the other hand, it is fairly easy for a consumer to get their own credit report, by requesting via automated phone system, or via the internet, for free.
