If I am filing chapter 7 bankrupcy and I make an error on the papers and need t resubmit them do I pay a filing fee twice?

The answer is no, you don't have to pay the filing fee twice. But take care to get it right the first time: it's incumbent upon you to exercise due diligence. Besides postage, it does not cost money to make amendments (changes) with the exception of "adding or deleting names and addresses of creditors or equity security holders, changing amounts owed or classification of debt." The fee for that is $26 in the San Diego court. I imagine it's similar elsewhere. This is cited from the Southern District of California Bankrutpcy Court fee schedule (which is subject to change).

No, you merely amend the schedule or other paper, and also complete an amendment cover sheet if the court provides one, or a declaration of amendment that you create.
