Legal Question in Business Law in California

I bought a car at a dealership to finance, they couldn't find someone to finance so they wanted me to return the car after the 10 day period, I wanted to when they could give me my 1000 dollars down payment back. I was texting the finance manager and calling but he never responded, so they came and got the car, and saying they reposessed it, but it was never financed. They won't give me back my 1000 dollars and telling me I owe for the car.

I hope you have proof of your payment, and a copy of the written agreement you signed at the dealership.

I would read that written agreement very carefully, to see what it says about a deposit. How many days did you have the car? Probably several days in addition to the 10 days they gave you to come up with the balance due. What this may boil down to is you will forfeit the deposit and end up having rented a new car at ?? (somewhere between $50 and $100 a day). Not too bad a price, although you could've done better at Enterprise. The dealership, on the other hand, now has a used car that will sell for thousands less than the new car price.
