Re: Copywriting a Book

Your real question is: how do I register a copyright?

You can do this yourself by filling out the appropriate form and sending it to the U.S. Copyright Office along with the correct fee.

The form and instructions can be found at the Copyright Office website:

Re: Copywriting a Book

Technically, nothing. Copyright is automatic. There are benefits to formally registering, however. You will want to wait until you have at least the first draft done, then register it with the U.S. Copyright Office. Also, write "Copyright YEAR by YOUR NAME, all rights reserved" on all copies.
