Legal Question in Business Law in California

Paid for a job

I was to be paid 2k for 6 weeks work. Which is way below my typical rate. I was doing a favor for a ''friend''. I received 1k to begin with. 3 weeks into job, the ''friend'' had me released. She said a statement I posted on facebook announcing the event was terrible, eventhough she approved it. It is apparent she wanted to get rid of me. She is now claiming the 1k back. Saying I did not complete my job. But I everything I was required to do up until that point was completed. Is it legal for her to be asking for the money back? We had signed no contract.

Re: Paid for a job

Don't Do Stuff Verbally. Next time have a written contract. Pay an attorney to write your standard contract. If she takes you to small claims court based on your verbal agreement, it's anybody's guess how the court will rule.
