Legal Question in Business Law in California

I am researching law regarding sale transactions in California. Specifically, sale (for $650) of a non-tangible asset (Internet account) by a non-minor person (age 19) to a minor person (age 16). Is there anything in California law that addresses this type of sale? (Wondering if it is legal and/or there are any specific requirements since the buyer is a minor.)

In normal people language, what Mr. Marman said is that a minor cannot be a party to a binding contract at all for the type of transaction you are talking about.

As a Franchise Attorney I think you need to focus on the practical effect. If you're the minor in this transaction, you have a right to cancel the contract and get your money back. If you're the seller, you need to face this reality. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.

Minors have the right to ask that the contracts they entered into be declared void and ineffectual. However, the recourse is available only when they become of age and granted that said contracts were not entered into for the purchase of basic necessities for sustenance
