Lay off

on 05/05/06 I was laid off I know it was not for the reason stated it was because I raised so much hell when my car which was parked near the Pres. and VP was broken into I made the co pay me the $160 it cost to replace the window. I am w/o a place to live and in debt as a result of this lay off after 4yr employment

Employees in CA are at will which means, in general, they can be quit or be fired at any time for no reason or any reason, as long as it's not illegal (with certaine exceptions). From what you state, it doesn't sound like anything illegal happened. I hope you get back on your feet really soon!
