Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

I live in a private residence, and their is camera that records whos goe's in and out. The video fottage feed goes to the sherifs house, is this legal?

.From the few facts you gave no it doesn't. Perhaps if you were living in a crime ridden public housing project the answer would be different. By the way why is the camera there?
