Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Is it possible for me take someone to small claims court as opposed to civil court if just want them to follow a contractual agreement, or to be open to changes within an already agreed contract? Both parties have already signed the contract.

Small claims is a civil court. You need to ask for specific performance to enforce the terms, however some small claims judges will not grant that, thinking they have no jurisdiction. I was a small claims judge, and I think you can enforce by specific performance in small claims court.
