Legal Question in Technology Law in California

Brand Name / Logo

Is it legal for an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) to make a request from their supplier (who is manufactuere of brand name controller cards), to ship product and cover up the suppliers brand name with their own OEM company logo (adhesive label over the silkscreen logo)? What law would cover this type of request?

I know that it is common practice in the valley but I was wondering if there was a legal position.
