Lis Pendens

Is an attorney the only individual that can sign and file a lis pendens ?

If the party filing the Lis Pendens is represented by an attorney, then the attorney must sign it and record it. A party representing him or herself must get a judge to sign and approve the Lis Pendens before it may be recorded. See Code of Civil Procedure Section 405.21.
