Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Billing or Late Fees

Business: Storage Service

No contract. Received a bill for $35, they said they have a late fee of $40. Received a bill for October for $35; 2nd week of October, same bill was $55, October 27; they added November bill of $35 plus $40; Total being due

$35 + 20 + 35 + 40 . Can they just arbitrarily charge these ridiculous late fees? I purchase from a desk from a store; they put it in storage facility. No contract exists. Is this not usury?

Re: Billing or Late Fees

no. late fees and/or interest is regulated by law and/or contractual agreement. from the facts presented, it sounds like you are being "scammed", and they are hoping or relying on the fact you will not get attorney assistance or challenge them legally. if you would further assistance, contact us today.
