Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

a car repair shop wrongfully diagnosed my car problem and added some things that they think needs to be done which cost me $1,038 and i paid the bill. the next day the problem is still there and becomes even worst. icalled them and they said to bring the car back at the shop and they will fix it for free . after waiting for 4 long hrs.

they said there is another problem with my car and it will cost me another $ 900 up to $ 1000 to fix it . i freaked out right away coz i feel they trying to rip me off and they said the only thing they can provide is a replacement car while they are trying to fix my car correctly. is that right ? is it legal to charge a customer for something that he relally does'nt need? anybody out there who can help me ? thanks a lot!

Please take the vehicle to a reputable shop for evaluation. If they didn't do it right the first time, more than likely they'll consider you an easy mark and string you along. Don't go back. Once you get a written estimate from the new shop, you can demand from the first shop the money you might have spent unnecessarily, and then go to small claims court if you don't get anywhere. You might also dispute it with your credit card company if it's within the time limits it sets.
