Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Contest for Pontiac GMC Win a Car!

I am affiliated to Pontiac due to me buying a car from them. I get mail from them and dealers that are close to where I live. This one paticular advertisement is for the March Maddness at a dealer in West Covina. I recieved a ticket in the mail with a number on it. I went into the dealer to see if I won. They told me that they don't know who won they threw everything away. They also said they have contest all the time. They couldnot remember what the winning numbers are. I told them well it says here that I have 60 days to collect my prize. Now if they threw everything away how am I going to check the numbers??? This is a problem don't you think so?

Throw some cold water on yourself and wake up.

There is no contest. There are no free cars. It is a gimmick to get you to come into the dealership. Yes, it's illegal. (And GM is wondering why people won't buy their cars.) If you have nothing else better to do, you can write to the California Attorney General.
