Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Expensive car is now worthless.

the car was brought to a shop last year Sept 05. The shop kept promising to fix the car but always more wrong with the car. the shop owner even took it to his home to work on without permission. Now the shop sent the car to a different shop and now is damaged on the outside and they say it needs a new engine. I make payments on this car and have not been able to drive it for almost a year. Do I have any type of a case because my car is now ruined and completely totaled? If so, what kind of attorney would i use and can you recommend one in my area?
