Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Family Tree

--name removed--x and her mother made a family tree which is searchable accessible through google. I try to protect--name removed--identity the best I can but not using--name removed--last name on the internet. However, they(her mother and herself)have, without--name removed--knowledge or consent, listed--name removed--full name,--name removed--daughters and--name removed--family with our date of birth. This, to--name removed-- is id theft waiting to happen. is there any legal course i can take to make them delete our names off this family tree site. the company itself says there is nothing they can do because its up to the owner of the family tree and i would have to contact them. however, i can not reach them because the email address is dead.

Re: Family Tree

Try finding them through http://www.zabasearch.net , and then send a demand letter -- certified return receipt -- to them to take down the tree by a date certain (or at least make your listing more vague). I hadn't thought about the issue of family trees on the internet but you are right about the potential for abuse.
