When does the statute of limitations start in california on debt i know the SOL is 4 years but the collector told me it doesn't start until it hits your credit report but the attorney general website says the SOL period starts soon as the debt is delinquent what can I do the debt went delinquent in 2005 but didnt hit the credit report till 2007

Your credit report has nothing to do with the statute of limitations to pay a debt. The time is measured from when you first breach the credit card contract. If have not paid on the account since 2005, the debt would be time barred.

If the collector lied to you, you may have a claim against the collector under state and federal laws that prohibit unfair debt collection practices.
