Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

collection agency trying to collect on debt that was not opened by me.

I am wondering it has been a little over 3 years and my husband is still getting collection letters from a company claiming he opened this account which he never did to make a long story short we think someone got into our mail and took checks and other things but did not find out till recently about them can you still file a police report or still fight this and not pay. What would be the statue of limitations on this? Mail now goes to po box so nothing has happen since then. Not sure what to do.

You would probably have a valid defense should the collection agency file a lawsuit against you. If you fax the letter and any other letters that you sent them or that they sent you to 714 363 0229, I can call you to advise you further. Please provide your phone number with the fax.
