Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

collection agency summons

Hello, today I was served with a

photocopy of a summons from

Zwicker and Associates in regards to

a debt to american express. Today is

August 5th and the summons was

filed May 5th! you can see the case #

has been altered. They also sent a

mini miranda and said if I wish to

avoid this, to call them to make

payment arrangements. Is this

bogus? Thank you!

You have 30 days from the date you were served to file with the court and serve a responsive pleading on the plaintiff's lawyers, not from the date the summons was issued.

Depending on the amount of money you supposedly owe, you might consider having a lawyer help you with your case. Good luck!
