If you're unable to pay the debt because your income only covers your necessities, you can request that they not contact you. Send a certified mail letter to the creditor.

To Whom It May Concern:

I request that you cease all written and oral communication with me. This request is made pursuant to 15 U.S.C. Section 1692c(c).

I am unable to pay this debt because my sole source of income is insufficient to cover my basic necessities of life. I do not have the ability to pay this debt now and your constant calling is causing me distress.

If you fail to comply with my request, I intend to avail myself of all appropriate legal remedies.

Yours,
