can a finance company reposs a car when payments are 2 months behind?

You need to go back and read your loan documents - you'll find that they can repossess in most cases even before you get two months behind.

Anytime after you are one month behind on the payments your car can be repossessed. Usually the bank waits at least three months but they are getting more aggressive recently.
