Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

While I was Finance Officer for a Veterans Organization I signed a contract with a company providing a credit card machine. When I Moved to another county, the post got rid of the machine and the company says that since I signed it I was libel. I made the agreement under the name of the organization and signed it as head finance officer. A new finance officer was elected when my term was up. Is this true? Or do I have any other option
