Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

irs

the corperation I worked for is now out of business and owes payroll taxes and late fees. I got a letter from the IRS stating I could be held responsable because I was a signer at the bank, is this true? I was not in controll with the monies comming in or going out, although I did write and sign checks.

IRS is not friendly. You will probably need professional help. You will have to demonstrate that you were not responsible for the payroll, and only signed checks given to you by management.
