Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I have a judgement against me regarding an old credit card debt. The address they used for me was Rancho Mirage, California and I know it was done in a southern California Court...probably either Riverside County or LA County. I just need a copy of the first page or two for a bankruptcy, but I can't find it online. First of all, I don't know whether to look at Small Claims or Civil Court or something else. LA County charges 4.75 just to look up a name, so I really would like to know which court to look at at least. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

THX,

The case number and place where the judgment was obtained usually appears in your credit report. You can get a free credit report online from each credit bureau once a year. It is my practice and the practice of most bankruptcy lawyers to obtain a credit report on each client I represent in a bankruptcy case. If your bankruptcy lawyer is not getting a credit report to obtain the information for the bankruptcy petition then you might not be getting the service you should be getting from your lawyer. If the judgment does not show in your credit report, then check the grantor/grantee index of the County Recorder's Office of both Counties online to see if an Abstract of Judgment was filed under your name. If no Abstract of Judgment was filed and no judgment listed in your credit report, then do not worry about any judgment. However, you must list the creditor in your bankruptcy petition Schedule F and provide notice to the best of your ability using the information in your credit report and any letters, bills or notices you might still have.
