Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I live in Contra Costa County, California and was sued for a card debt a few weeks before the statute of limitations expired. I have letters requesting validation of the debt, includinf a signed contract and proof that this law firm had authorization to collect the debt. They sent photocopies of some statments, but nothing with my signature and nothing showing their status in the matter.

I have filed an answer and a case management report with this information included. The clek of the court indicated I should find some precedents....I have tried searching the web, but to no avail at this point. Do I need precedents and if so, can you oblige? Thank you.

Yes, you will need at least one case which invalidated a debt collector's ability to collect a debt. Is the debt collector working for the creditor or did it purchase the debt?

Good luck.
